But I had to trim some of the fat and yep most of those were the fat...lol. That Chill Rob G we did for 1989. I have to keep these brackets even also so I can't just add two albums I have to add another set of 8. But of course if more people want some of the above albums repped in the tourney I have no problem with adding them where possible.

My only complaint with Kill At Will is the fact that it isn't even the best Cube release on this list. If it's not the best Cube release on the list, it has no chance of winning. It's just kinda there taking up space. It's really just a small complaint though.

| KJ is actually somewhat accurate. I have a general disdain for the "sound" of the 80s...BUT...it stems from a general ignorance of the era. I haven't listened to enough 80s shit to truly dismiss it but I just cant get into the old break beat sound. The 90s took beat making (and lyrical styles) to a whole new level and it continues to progress. For someone who didn't grow up in the 80s, it's hard for me to go back now and listen to stuff that is of lesser quality, IMO. | |

Seriously Wanduras, just because it's older doesn't mean it's of lesser quality. After all, albums like Nation Of Millions, Straight Outta Compton, Great Adventures Of Slick Rick, Long Live The Kane, Raising Hell, Paid In Full, Criminal Minded, Strictly Business and the like are still praised and talked about today for a reason. I can understand not growing up in the 80's and all that, but the aforementioned albums and many more I didn't name are looked upon as classics and match up very well with post-90's album quite well. And as far as other genres go, I still to this day haven't heard a better album than Michael Jackson's Thriller which was released in 1982. Classic albums are simply TIMELESS.

Classic albums are simply TIMELESS. Yeah, like Wand I didn't grow up in the 80's (off by one year). However, I agree with you and all the albums you listed are great albums that I enjoy listening to. Nation Of Millions in particular still sounds extremely fresh to me. That's when you know an album is one of the greats.

| And I like all of the albums that you mentioned, KJ. I didn't mean to give the impression that I am completely retarded, lol. I fully understand what you are saying, maybe my point was not as clear. I did not grow up in the 50s 60s and 70s either but I think that those decades made exponentially better music than the 80s. What album is better than Thriller? Off the top of my head I would go with The Beatles' Sgt. Peppers, White Album, and Abbey Road. And that is just one group. I just do not care for the general sound that the 80s produced, which I would say is a style, and you said yourself that you don't care for specific styles. And when I say lesser quality, I mean just that. The genre of Hip Hop was in its infancy in the 80s and it was still trying to get its shit together. The 90s built upon that foundation and made it even better and I believe that the biggest leaps have been made since 2000. Of course there is waaaaay more shitty ass crap that gets put out now but there is also waaaay better quality in the albums that do shine. To put it simply, the Apple IIe was fuckin dope in the 80s but we got computers that fit in your pocket now. Of course, this is all IMHO. | |

Damn Wandy you had me listening to you until you said the BIGGEST leaps in hip-hop have been made since 2000 when we all know that quality wise that time period has been the overall weakest period of the music...I know that there has been some quality hip-hop released since 2000, but nowhere near the quality of the 80's and in particular the 90's (which was the strongest period IMO) especially 1990-1996...and the strongest year which IMO was 1988.......2000...2001....2002....2003.....2004...2005.....2006.....2007...2008...2009 (which was the strongest post 2000 year IMO) .....2010 (which was the weakest post 2000 year IMO) and 2011 are not on par with the 80's and 90's hip-hop in terms of overall quality IMO.....and it's not even fuckin close man.....

| Powell spoke the complete truth!
Bottom line though, people are still talking about the albums that I mentioned today. Those albums are still regarded as some of the best ever. That's not to say that there haven't been classic albums post-2000 but there haven't been as many. Even in the 80's there were multiple classics released every year, nowadays you're lucky to get 1 or 2 classics per year, and that's real talk. I think 2001 was the last time that you saw a decent amount of classic hip-hop albums released. and those albums aren't as dope as the ones released in 1988 IMO.
