Laugh all you want. More people agree with that above assessment. Even people in Queens don't consider Mega QB's finest let alone hip-hop nation. You're entitled to your opinion, but it's in the vast minority.

yea i think it is ridiculous to an extent. People dont take into account other opinions...like they actually think its ludicrous that someone could like Mega more and think he is better than Jay-Z. I feel like a lot of the "opinions" people throw around aren't even personal opinions but just opinions formed due to the media and the "experts" telling people what good hip hop is. Im not calling out any names because its actually most hip hop heads this applies to, but if there was no mainstream media outlets telling people who the best rappers were and if rap never blew up like it did the opinions on who the best would be sooooooo different and there really would never be a "consensus" like people believe there is now

| again did you even read what i wrote? I never said there's nothing wrong with debate/back and forth, i like that. What i am saying is people are afraid to go away from the "consensus" in terms of their opinions since thats what the media has always told them was the best and because its not a popular opinion they look at every personal opinion as wrong, rather than a difference in opinion. In reality, if Cormega came first and blew up, and the media crowned him as king, the "opinions" here would be flipped, thats why this is all hilarious to me | |

Did i say all back and forth was pointless? I said this back and forth. Slang was the only person on here to actually attempt to back up his point, and what did it get him? i beieve it got him a LMAO. Most everyone else just makes asinine blanket statements that have no bearing on this convo. Without offering something substantial or of merit, you are just being foolishly disrespectful because someone has an unconventional opinion.

Exactly Slang. What's the point of saying that Nas is better than Whoremega, or you're entitled to your opinion but you are in the minority? Does being in the minority make a person wrong? Why is that even a point of contention? give examples of why Nas is better, or why Jay-Z is better.

If I think Mega is the best rapper QB has produced then that is my opinion and no one should get offended by it or assume it's a slight to their favorite rapper.

Thats just a excuse you "mainstream" dislikers tell yourself when your fav rapper never gets mentioned with the crowned greats. I get what you are trying to say because that does happen no doubt. But I am confident that most on this forum are not "controlled" by the media and who they deem as great. People like you will just have to expect that Jay, Nas, and a few otehrs who are popular are still dope artist and lyricists to a lot of people. But because they are dope not told they are dope.

| I don't think Slang said anything about Nas though.. he has a point though...I mean you can't sit there and tell me a guy like KJ is not controlled by the media... his response to everything is media related - who is popular, who sold records, who is held in the highest esteem by the most people... I think the majority of the posters on the forum have their own opinions so it's not really an issue.
I think what Terry and Slang would love is the ability to have a actual conversation and discussion on things rather than silly shit. If people are just going to scoff at certain opinions and call them out for being ridiculous then that's not a discussion or a back and forth.

| I was just using Nas as an example of one of the rappers that is recognized by the mainstream media as one of the best.
And as far as the discussion that is what we are doing right now. But everyone does not have to go by that "rule". Could it be truly possible in said peron's mind that it is truly crazy to compare them? So they see no need in having a long winded debate that will not change the outcome either way. KJ and Powell are apart of that old east coast machine guard no doubt. But I can't front like the rappers they hold in high regards do not deserve to be there and to strictly blame it on it's because the media told them that opinion is not the whole truth. It is a flaw to an extent that they seem to have a hard time understanding why someone would take Mega over Nas or act like its not even possible. So i'm with you guys on that. But let's be careful with the blanket statements both ways.

| It's not a blanket statement Kev, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but if you don't feel a discussion is productive then there's no need to chime in. What's the point of having a discussion if there is nothing to discuss? And is it crazy to think we can have a discussion without calling out names?
I mean let's be real, if I didn't say I liked Mega more than Nas KJ wouldn't be up in a hoot and wouldn't be saying shit like "whoremega" - that's not discussion, just ignorance.
That's the thing, if you are not serious about discussion or understanding someone else's perspective then you are in the wrong place.

That's the thing, if you are not serious about discussion or understanding someone else's perspective then you are in the wrong place. Perfect world that should be the case. And I agree. But since we all kinda know each other's opinion's already I think it gets to almost beating a dead horse. Also I think since all this mature discussion is coming from you it feels kind of ironic or weird. Because you use to do the samething and probably still will.

| I've always been for good discussion. Have I responded with similar moronic bullshit as gets thrown my way? yes! and I'll keep doing so as long as it keeps being churned out. That's just my nature. While some people misinterpret my intent, it's nothing I do with malice and it would stop if others quit with theirs. | |

Just for the record Slang, Cormega and Jay have both been in the game for about the same exact time...Jay first appeared in '89 on Hawaiian Sophie with his boy Jaz and 'Mega started appearing in mixtapes form in the early 90's so neither of them is a new jack in this industry...you are right though in the obvious of Jay "blowing up" and 'Mega did not...but that has nothing to do with my opinion of Jay being the much better emcee between the two of them...Reasonable Doubt, In My Lifetime Vol 1, American Gangster, Blueprint 1 and 3, The Black Album, In My Lifetime Vol 3....these are some of the main reasons why I think Jay is better then 'Mega...he has hit higher highs musically than 'Mega has throughout the course of his career again IN MY OPINION...this has nothing to do with what XXL thinks...or The Source or Vibe Magazine or any other publication...this has all to do with what my ears deem as being dope and from what these ears have heard from both of these emcees...while 'Mega is a very dope emcee he is not even close to being on Jay-Z's level in any way, shape or form...again IN MY OPINION!
