Today's nominee is quite possibly the single defining, powerful voice of the past 20 years, and without a doubt in my mind, she is the most important female of the genre during this time period. Today's nomineee is Mary J Blige.

I don't know about the most powerful voice in the past 20 but she is one of the best and most popular.
Let's see:
Real Love Sweet Thing Be Happy My Life Not Gon Cry
Not a fan of Mary J really. To me she hit her peak at Share My World and everything after that was just whatever.

When i say powerful, i meant just the impact, the presence, and importance. I wasn't speaking on how powerful her voice is. There have been quite a few ladies who have bigger voices and are considered better singers.

Oh okay. Yeah when most think of r&b period Mary J is who come's to mind. To a degree Mary J may be a poster child for the decline of more traditional r&b or soul. I know she may wasn't the 1st to mix r&b and rap production but she sure took it to another level.

Damn this one is going to be very tough because for this lady I've got a top 100....HUGE fan of MJB and your right Terry, she is the ONE when it comes to female r&b singers of this generation.....she is our Diana Ross, Chaka Khan or Aretha Franklin...Mary is it man...
hmmm her top five??
in no particular order:
I'm The Only Woman Love No Limit You Remind Me Get To Know You Better All That I Can Say
*Sincerity *You Don't Have To Worry *Can't Get You Off My Mind *I'm In Love *My Love (remix)
this lady has had so many bangers, that this top 5 was extremely tough....I'm leaving about 100 songs I feel like deserved to be listed....

I co-sign Terry and Powell's thoughts on MJB. Of all female R&B artists of the last 20 years, only Mariah Carey can rival her. Mariah has a better voice and I love her too, but Mary's songs soothe my soul like no other.
Real Love (original and remix) I Love You (original and remix) Reminisce (original and remix) Family Affair Everyday It Rains *I'm Going Down *No More Drama *Love Is All We Need *Be Happy *You Don't Have To Worry (good call Powell) *You Bring Me Joy *I Love You (remix) *You Remind Me *Sweet Thing *Love No Limit *Not Gon' Cry
I know what Powell was saying, I listed 15 songs and even that was hard. Mary is easily my favorite female R&B singer of all time, and like my 3rd favorite R&B singer overall.

LOL, I knew I was missing something. I like Not Gon' Cry a lot. It wouldn't make my Top 5 but maybe my Top 10-15 perhaps. I'll add it to my list.
Mary has so many great songs though that even making a Top 20 for her is hard.

Obviously no disrespect to one of the greatest R&B artists period, but I cannot produce a list, for I am a sexist ass piece of shit and I don't listen to any female artists. Sorry. If I can't sing along, I'm not bumpin it.

Sorry to hear about your dank Wanduras, hope you were able to salvage most of it.

Lol...yeah man, its all good. Smokin a little dog hair never hurt anyone (I hope).
And Syrup, I may not be an MJB fan but you can't hate on R&B in general man. It's like Hip Hop's cool cousin thats more of a ladies man than a thug but they both still cool cuz they both like bitches. Or at least thats how I see it, lol.

Nah, I mess with some R&B too man, but it's just that for a whole bunch of so-called "hip-hop heads" all these dudes sure seem to be getting a lot more excited about Mary J Blige than they ever get excited about listing their top 5 from any rapper... that's all I'm saying...

Eat a fat dick! I bet you'd drop a ton of Menudo or Salina tracks if they were ever mentioned in a thread.
