Those numbers aren't really specific. Dogg Pound is about at the middle, Oktober and Roots are pretty much at the bottom. I am the absolute only person anywhere not feeling The Roots this year.

I know I need to check out Canibus. I didn't like the last album Guilty put out, is OJ similar to that?

when I saw KJ, along with artists like 60 Sec Ass, Oktober, and OJ Simpson in the post, I actually thought KJ was finally getting out his comfort zone and checking shit out. Turns out it's Kid Joe, which makes more sense...lol

Haven't heard I. I want to, though. II is dope as fuck in terms of production. Curren$y does a nice jobs with the lyrics too. I got it at a solid 4.25 stars after 1 1/2 spins...

yeah I came out earlier this year... it has some good production and a real chill vibe. I enjoyed it.

I think I is 3.5 stars or so, but II is about 4 stars for me.

To me I and II or the same album. He should have just put them out as a double cd. So if you like I you will like II and vice versa. Same beats same flow same subject matter.

Apollo Brown has a sound similar to Black Milk. I think he's far less creative, and tries to adapt Black Milk's sound to the already established hip-hop aesthetics...making that style of hip-hop more accessible.

I can see why people like him so much, but it just sounds contrived and soulless to me. Black Milk has that soulless, robotic vibe 100%...that's his gimmick and it works because it's unique. Apollo Brown co-opts that, and tries to add a 9th or Kanye element to it.

It just doesn't work for me.

For the record, I haven't heard Gas Mask yet. I will check it out, though.

what? Black Milk and Apollo Brown sound nothing alike to me. Apollo Brown relies heavily on soul and the motown sound whereas Black Milk is clearly a student of Dilla's with liver sounding drums and a more robotic sound. Apollo Brown and Black Milk's drums cant be any more different either...

The Reset is entirely Black Milk's drum & synth topped with 9th style soul samples.

"Gas Mask" is stupid good. I think you would dig it Norf. Still haven't heard "The Reset' but it's on my list of priorities.
