Enta Da Stage is easily in my top 5 favorite albums ever, Bootcamp is my favorite crew just behind Wu and i probably spin boot camp stuff more than most stuff
i actually love all of Black Moons albums, one of the most consistent groups

Enta Da Stage is one of the first albums where an mc just raps about smokin people for absolutely no purpose whatsoever

Buckshot is a very very average lyricsts and his flow is booty to me most of the time. I find it very funny how he gets a pass for lyricists and maybe a top 50 spot but Snoop, NBN, Ice T, Lyte, Heavy D, etc etc. are not. Black Moon only have one album that hip hop holds near and dear no one ever talks about any of their other albums and no one never talks about his solo's but he maybe top 50??

Well Kev, as you know I voted ALL of those cats that you mentioned Top 50 with the exception of Naughty By Nature, whom I voted Top 100.

As for Black Moon/Buckshot, I give them a Top 100 spot. Enta The Stage is a classic without a doubt, but I also liked Warzone (4 stars) and Buckshot and 9th Wonder's The Formula (4.5 stars)

Warzone is at least 4 stars and Total Eclipse is like 4.25, i dont really care that much about Buckshot's "average" lyrics because he keeps it real and Beatminerz or whoever hes working with usually give him good beats. Hes one of the few still consistently making really good albums...

it's the inconsistency that doesn't award this group top 50 status IMO

but Enta Da Stage is a top ten of all-time hip-hop album

and Buckshot is no joke on the mic...plus Da Beatminerz production is top notch as well

they've made some timeless classics and they are the leaders of Boot Camp Click

thats different lol, im talking about new(er) underground rappers mainly that dont really have any appeal as an MC, except they claim there extremely lyrical and try to prove it by rhyming big complex words all the time...Canibus gets a pass on this cuz he actually has flow an appeal IMO and his lyrics are nasty. Im talking about rappers that sacrifice flow, charisma, and any sort of appeal solely for the sake of lyrics, and one of the reason i like Buckshot is he knows his limitations, yet makes dope music his way and is confident in his style

I voted BM Top 100, but they're still superior to 3-6.

I agree that overall BM is betta than 3-6 quite easily. But they are not betta than NBN, Ice T, Snoop, Lyte, HeavyD, Mobb Deep, or Spice 1 and they all got top 100 so Buck imo should be in the 90's.

Nor Black Moon is not betta than Hev, Hev would kill Buck on the mic. You think Buck raps betta than Hev? And they only have ONE highly acclaimed album so how does that make sense? If this was Boot Camp as a whole I would vote top 50 but BM alone is neither for me subjectively and top 100 the other way.

Kev, there is no way Heavy D could see Buckshot on the mic. I mean, I can understand folks nto feelin' him, but Heavy D was never known for his lyrical prowess. I like Heavy D, I even have all of his albums (group & solo), but he simply isn't a better rapper than Buckshot. More popular, yes. Better emcee, no.

And Black Moon's one classic is one more than Heavy D has...

I can't see it even without bias...Buck just is not my speed when he is solo, I can deal when he is one verse per trk or something.

KRob i read somewhere on another site something that basically summed up what i think makes Black Moon so appealing to me and many others:

Now, imagine applying that same concept to Enta Da Stage or even Warzone it just wouldnt be the same, and probably nowhere near as good, rappers need to be able to make good songs, not just have great lyrics man

that Heavy D and Buckshot match-up would be alot closer than people care to admit...

Hev has held his own consistently on some tracks with some heavyweight lyrical talent many times..dude was nice on the mic, however I do think overall that Buckshot is better when it comes to straight spittin on the mic...I think people sleep on Hev because he made alot of radio friendly material but if you really listen to some of Hev's lyrics you'll see that dude can spit...that's what made the "golden ages" the best times in hip-hop...the talent levels were ridiculous from pretty much all angles...Hev would lyrically murder a majority of these "emcees" right now....I think he would KILL Lil Wayne and Jeezy as examples easily in '09...

I dig Buckshot and own 1 of his solos and and 3 Black Moon albums, but I really don't spin them with any sort of regularity.

Also, Heavy D is way nicer than Buckshot IMO.

Cool, i don't think they belong in the top 50. I voted neither because there are 100 acts i'd rather listen to, but top 100 seems fair enough to me based on Enta Da Stage and The Formula

Yeah, he deserves top 100. Like you I just don't bump him enough to consider him being a favorite.

Cosign. I went through a phase with that album when I spun it a bunch, but it doesn't get as many nowadays. Warzone is a dope record though. I like that one. Total Eclipse is solid too, but I haven't heard it many times. Still, I just don't bump them enough...

Enta Da Stage has been on regular rotation forever, and the other 2 are bumped a lot, i actually bump all the BM albums more than the Formula probably and thats a great album too

I mean the album was not quite 5 stars but better than 4.75 stars lol.

I just went through a serious Black Moon fix. They have skyrocketed up my favorite group ranking into my top 10. War Zone is dope, Diggin is dope, Enta Da Stage is hella dope, and Total Eclipse is solid.

I just got done checking out Alter The Chemistry and I'd give it 4 stars. Pretty solid effort. Its a remix album of Buckshot & 9th Wonder's Chemistry album.

This just adds to Buckshot/BM's credentials.
