This is a neither for me. He only has 2 albums, and they are overrated to me.

He's top 50 for me, but voted top 100 to make up for the mad mini-haystaks of the world.

are you saying that these polls are so retarted that if a person gets for example
5 top 50 votes 7 top 100 votes and 10 Neither votes they wouldnt make it in the top 100?????
if thats the case thats fucking retarted, clearly that means 12 - 10 in favor of top 100. so if thats not how you are determining who gets in than whoever is in charge is an idiot

That's exactly what it is. It's kind of too late to fix it now, since we don't have the results from the old forum. Unless we redid the voting for those people.

Dang Slang taken Big L a little personal huh? And everybdy was trippin and side talking because I took some personal. Now it's one of your fav's beening s**ted on. And you just called me an idoit for this voting system when in the beginning I asked everyones opinion on how to handle it. SRP, Jason, and Shon had some ideas but nothing concrete ever came about so we ALL agreed majority rules.
Big L is not no where near the top 50....sorry.

^ no hard feelings man its not cuz of Big L i just noticed that in general the voting is flawed....why not include a top 50 vote as top 100 that makes no sense?
and i wasnt meaning to call you an idiot personally just the system and how its run in general is stupid, i have nothing against you at all

We both know that we should amend the voting system. There is no way in hell Big L and his two albums should make the cut, and Too Short's 3-4 classics watch from the sideline. In all seriousness, you should make another Too Short poll just consisting of top 100 or not top 100.

I remember people being upset when I pointed out there were multiple problems with the way this was being conducted, from the very beginning.
I think we did agree, on the other forum, that kev would conduct it his way, but that I would also go through the votes at the end, to get a more accurate list. But now the only way to do that would be to redo the voting for the people we voted on at the other forum.

We may have to do a recount for certain artist where most agree that top 50 and top 100 votes can trump Nether.

I can run the numbers with the artists we've voted on here. I have to think about how it should be done. I'll post the results, then we can decide if that method makes it better, and proceed from there, as far as what to do about artists voted on at the other forum. What do you think about that?

I'll give him top 100, too few albums to truly give him a really fair rating. Other than that his punchlines were great, really enjoyed his 1st album and parts of his 2nd. Not to mention those freestyle compilations that were released and the unreleased material.

Neither. Dude was an excellent lyricist, but I rarely play his debut, and have not heard his posthumous more than once.

I don't know what disappoints me more Pounds, the fact that you voted neither, or that you haven't spun "The Big Picture" more than once. IMO it's better than his debut. Lyrically they're even, but the production on The Big Picture is far better.

KJ, i don't mean to call you out, this is the bias i was speaking of. Everyone has it, but some people have a hard time admitting it or even seeing it. How can you say Big L is top 50 when he only has 2 albums and no consensus classics, but Goodie Mob get a top 100 vote. Goodie Mob have a consensus classic, and truthfully Still Standing is probably considered a classic more often than any Big L album. Like I said, I don't want you to feel like I'm calling you out, but i would like to know how anyone can justify this?

FYI Terry, I actually voted Top 100 for Big L because his career was unfortunately cut short, but LYRICALLY he's a Top 50.
I was on the fence with Goodie Mob. The reason I voted Top 100 is because I prefer at least 10 groups over them.
The Big Picture is a PERSONAL classic to me. Not as good as Soul Food but better than Still Standing IMO. I prefer Big L's debut to Still Standing as well although SS is a dope album.
I understand where you're coming from, but the same can be said for people voting in favor of K-Rino (and YOU were one of those people) when he has absolutely NO noteriety despite a 20 year career and no consensus classics. Yet they voted against Jadakiss. That made no sense to me.
If Big L were still alive, IMO he'd be one of the top MC's in the game today.

I voted neither because I don't find either of those albums to be classic, nor do I spin them enough to consider them semi-personal classics. I have not heard "The Big Picture" much. We have spoke about this album, and I did check it out based on our past conversation about it and enjoyed it. It is good, but I just don't play much Big L in general, so he doesn't get top 100 from me based on personal replay value. He was obviously an incredible lyricist though.

when i say top 5 it kind of means my top 10-15 favorites if that makes any sense....kinda like the "NBA's 50 Greatest Players of All Time" includes well over 50 players
I have like 10-15 albums that if i had to make a list theyd be constantly in and out of my top 5-10

I'm willing to bet that 90% of this forum has at least ONE album in their Top 20 or so albums that's not a consensus classic. I know that I do.
I loved Lifestylez. It's a 4.25 for me. I only skip 2 tracks on it and the beats could have been better, otherwise I'd rate it higher.

Agreed. I have several that most would definitely not consider classics.
