| Del gets top 50 for me even though I see him more as top 100, but I couldn't hold back my bias because he is a top 10 favorite of mine lol... | |

| why not kev? except for his last album theyve all been classics or near classics, then you add in his group stuff his INFLUENCE (just for you big dogg) he's not an awful top 50 choice. Look at some of the other top 50s. |

True if CL is top 50 and Del is a way betta rapper imo but at the sametime Del is not top 50 when when I think of some of the one's who got top 100 and who didn't.. I can't see Del before NBN, Mobb Deep, Rino, Lyte, Ice T, Too Short, King Tee, etc.. |

| Can't vote either way on this one. I own "Deltron 3030" which is dope and "I Wish My Brother George Was here" but i've only listened to it maybe 4 times so i'm not familiar enough with his work but i am a fan of what i've heard. | |

| man all of Del's albums are great except the Eleventh Hour, not to mention his work with Hiero
My friend said hes been to San Fran/Oakland once a few years ago and he couldnt go 2 blocks without seeing the Hiero logo somewhere...usually as a sticker or on a flyer on a lightpost or something
no matter what anyone says Del is better than Too Short, Lyte, King Tee, and Ice T
Del's one of the few rappers who can make tons of different kinds of songs and he can make his flow fit in with so many different styles of beats

| Wow Slang did you really just pick all the west coast artist and one female that Del is "betta" then? Let's get something str8 some are very delusional about these undaground hero's, Del's hip hop impact and contribution pales imo to Ice T, Short, Lyte, and some of the others. Tell Del to sell some records to someone who gives a damn first and yes sells are a facor when ranking SOME artist. No one is chekcing for Del's records like that and wasn't even in the golden yrs seriously. After No Need For Alarm he was not discussed in circles when talking about top teir hip hop. Del is a good rapper and very creative but to me his albums are not all that except for the 1st one and most of the 2nd one. Too Short got a million people to buy his cd's back when he was not popular on the radio and Ice T is a pioneer of gangsta rap period. I bet Del would even tell you this and I bet he looked up to Ice T at some point in his early stages. You just seem to not be a fan of west coast gangsta rap so Del just ranks so easily over it but back when the backpack thing was poppin heard no one really mention Del. |

| I can see both sides of this. Lyrically, Del could easily pass for Top 50, but I voted Top 100 because I can think of 50 MC's that have been more consistent and have made a bigger impact.
I think MC Lyte and Ice T should have been ranked higher though, because Lyte is a great lyricist in her own right, has a classic album under her belt, and was a pioneer. Ice T has transcended hip-hop with his highly successful acting career, and was also a pioneer. He also has TWO classic albums under his belt.
I voted against Too Short because he didn't blow up anywhere other than the West Coast. Nobody on the East Coast was checkin for Short because he sucks lyrically. I almost voted for him because he has been influential, but those two factors outweigh that IMO. Not to mention that even his biggest fans have said that his last few joints have been sub-par.
Back to Del though, I agree that he's not Top 50 in terms of impact and influence, but I'm not complaining because he's definitely dope and one of the Top 50 spitters of all time. |

i do like West Coast Gangsta rap that has nothing to do with it, but that doesnt mean i havent enjoyed Del's albums more than Too Shorts man its my opinion. One of Del's best selling albums was Deltron 3030 so he didnt disappear from discussion after No Need for Alarm. Im not arguing Ice T had a bigger impact, but i wont agree that Ice T is a better rapper than Del, he may have contributed more to the genre but Del has been doing this shit for a while now and hes been consistent and IMO has more quality albums than Ice T. I voted Ice T top 50 or 100 cant remember but its not like i didnt recognize his contributions. I Wish my Brother George, No Need for Alarm, Both Sides of the Brain, and Deltron 3030 are all at least 4 stars or higher, and 3rd Eye Vision is widely heralded. i could see the argument for Lyte but i voted her in the top 50 as well

Kev, you shouldn't take this stuff so personally. I mean it just shows the overall tastes of the forum. It doesn't mean your tatses are any less valid. I mean IMO, there is no way in hell that Big L's overrated ass deserves to be on the list over Too Short or Three 6 Mafia, but disputing it seems pointless anymore.

I'm not taking this personally..i'm just sharing my thoughts on artists, why is that allowed anymore? I'm not calling Slang or anyone else names are bashing their taste in music i'm just seriously debating my views like everyone else. Why when I defend artists all of sudden it's personal but when everyone eldse does it they are just debating? I did not attack anyone that has not asked for it so whats up with that. |
