| I have been thinking about this on and off. Both were/are highly regarded rookie emcees but it seems like Lamar is getting the most attention.
Did KRIT drop the ball with his debut album being forgettable?
or
Does Kendrick just have more appeal?
What u think?

| True dat. But Dre has not been all that visible or vocal in Lamar affairs. I'm sure he has pulled some string ibehind the scenes though. KRIT is on a major label also, so we can't take that for granted. | |

| I'd think the Aftermath/Interscope machine has a bit more steam behind K.Dot than Def Jam had behind K.R.I.T. Also, Kendrick's voice probably plays a role. | |

What u think? Yes and yes to your two questions. Let's be real here, Lamar can outspit K.R.I.T. and as much as I hold KRIT's mixtapes in high regard and think they are high quality, to many people he could be written off as a rapper that just gets by on UGK worship and doesn't bring anything new to the table. He does a great job with the well-worn sound he makes, but in terms of bringing something fresh or interesting to the game it does seem like Lamar is more likely to take risks and do that. Also, the Dre connection is a big plus, because if anything Beats By Dre are trendy as fuck (already played out if you ask me) and there are thousands of hip hop newcomers who of course listen to The Chronic as one of the five "hip hop albums you have to hear to be a hip hop fan" (the other four are Illmatic, Ready to Die, All Eyez on Me, and The Carter III by the way), so they think he's still relevant and cool etc. So right now Lamar is winning in terms of popularity and success for sure, but it really depends how good this album is. If it lives up to even the smallest amount of hype this album has been getting it will be a success for Lamar. A lot of KRIT fans seemed to really enjoy Live From The Underground, so to huge KRIT fans he's probably doing just fine in their eyes. To me that album revealed that maybe KRIT needs to change up his style a tad to remain interesting.

| I don't think he has taken it. It's just his time to shine as opposed to Krit. I also find Kendrick to be more od a singles artist compared to Krit. With Krit handling his own production, his albums are better listen to as a whole than Kendrick's were. I think Kendrick's style might play a little better in today's hip hop climate. I will definitely peep Lendrick's album, but nothing he's done has moved me as much as Krit Wuz Here, Return of 4eva, or 4eva N A Day. I think Krit is a superior artist. | |

| What Kev? K.Dot and Dre was on the cover of XXL. Could you imagine how upset The Game is now? Also alot of people consider Section 80 a classic and people were disappointd with Live From The Underground. Def Jam as of late has a track record of ruining artist. Take J.Cole for instance, people liked his mixtapes but thought his album was pop-filler. Face it, a rapper hasn't had K.Dot's buzz since 50cent in 2004. Ofcourse I dont think he'll push those numbers but I can't think of one rap artist that got kids more antsy.
Still, I think K.Dot is still largely unknown in the adult mainstream world. And niggaz in the hood ain't bumping his shit. The song Swimming Pool was a radio flop

| To me, these two dudes aren't really in direct competition. They have two totally different approaches to the game. As was stated above, KRIT has a much more complete album based strategy whereas Kendrick seems to focus more on hot singles. That's why it would seem like he's stealing the spotlight but I think KRIT fans will check for him just as much when he gets ready to drop again. Plus KRIT has a lot more work behind him than Kendrick (as far as I know) so maybe he's just on a break as far as being in the public eye. KRIT was gettin crazy buzz when KRIT Wuz Here dropped and thereafter until LFTU.
Both dudes do have that same semi-conscious/semi-street/respect my predecessors style, though.
To answer the questions...
1) Yes, I think KRIT dropped the ball on LFTU. Like I said, he had crazy buzz coming into that album and no one got the masterpiece they were expecting.
2) Yes, for the moment Kendrick has more appeal but only because he's in the buzz stage leading up to his debut right now. He could just as easily drop a turd and be irrelevant next year.

If you call rapping off beat and trying to fit too many words in a bar, then I guess he did kill Game.

What u think? The way I see it is that both men have appeal, there's no denying that. Also, KRIT has what I could the "J. Cole effect", as someone who came nicely on his mixtapes, but a total change took place when his debut studio album came out.Another factor I do agree with is that Kendrick does have Dre, so that plays a large role as well.

| So now that GKMC dropped what do you guys think? Seems to me like he's taking the spotlight for sure now. Some of these bandwagon hopping motherfuckers probably sold Live From The Underground to cop GKMC. | |

| K.Dot stole the light from everybody. Krit,JCole,Lupe,Hopsin,Machine Gun Kelly, all those types of rappers. Prolly the reason Asap Rocky is pushing his album back to 2013. K.Dot shut 2012 down. I feel sorry for Chino XL | |
