| probably #1 for me. With the group albums, solo joints, and collaborations they have 8-10 classic albums and plenty more dope ones. | |

| easily top 5. If BDP is not considered a group for these particular nominations, the Clan is # 1 easily. | |

Hate can be contagious. So I'm just glad whoever did it remained anonymous... The east is pretty stacked, Norf. Some people prefer some styles over others as well. I see nothing wrong with it. That said, as a collaborative group, Wu-Tang is not in my top 10. So I have to go neither since 36 Chambers is the only album I consistently spin from the crew. The other work is all solid, but I can't give a group top 10 if they only have 1 personal classic in my book. Especially since the personal classic doesn't get as much play as anything in my top 10. That said, my top 10 from the east is: A Tribe Called Quest Beastie Boys DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince Pete Rock & CL Smooth Gang Starr Public Enemy Run-DMC The Roots Digable Planets X Clan And I'd probably give top 10 to these guys before Wu Tang: EPMD Heavy D & The Boyz Organized Konfusion Poor Righteous Teachers Obviously, Wu-Tang is objectively top 5-10, but that doesn't mean I personally listen to their music nearly as much as some east coast groups.

I agree Kev, unless we have a problem getting positive votes (which we shouldn't in the East) then true groups should be nominated first. As for Wu-Tang, they're Top 5. |

I think they should be included except for BDP. But only because BDP is like solo KRS-One anyway, because KRS produced most of that material and was the creative visionary in the production as well. Because Will Smith & CL Smooth were judged poorly due to folks only including their solo work. I mean, what is CL Smooth to most people without Pete Rock? Same for Heavy D. What is Rakim without the classic Marley Marl production and Eric B. cuts? What is Guru without DJ Premier? Will Smith has an incomparable career with DJ Jazzy Jeff. The argument could be everlasting, so I feel they should definitely be nominated.

So you don't think Gang Starr should be included? Because most people said they'd vote them in on groups, but not Guru as a solo artist... You guys better figure it out. You can't pick and choose. It will just cause more debates and flaw the voting.

I don't think duos count, but I wouldn't be mad at them being included either because, technically speaking, they could be viewed as a group.

| I'm with Alan on this one. The producer/mc combo should be counted as a group. there is a certain chemistry that can't be replicated. They compliment each other, and they both contribute to the finished product. i mean Guru didn't make it as a solo artist, and now his works with Premier will be swept under the rug too? That material is too potent to be ignored, but that's just my opinion. | |

Maybe we should poll them separately to avoid confusion and petty interruptions?

Exactly. And there will be other instances/complaints just like this if we pick and choose who should be eligible. We should probably include all duos (IMO).

You also listed groups that were not in yourtop 10 too. My point was that those groups were in addition to the groups you have mentioned. It was meant to further emphasize that the east was stacked.

I hardly ever use either yours or others names when making my points...it's almost like your trying to think for me and I'm okay doing that on my own, thanks dawg..lol Anyway back to the topic, Kev, I think we need to know if EPMD or Run-D.M.C. or Gangstarr and many others are considered groups or duos or both??? I've always considered them both meaning a group and a duo...so that would mean they should be nominated in this category IMO...what do you feel about this man??
