| Here's the concept - everyone post here and with your first post reserve a spot where you will have your ongoing 2010 top album list. I want everyone to reserve a spot before the discussion starts. As the year goes buy you can edit your post and change and rearrange your list as you add to it. When you make a change you post in here saying the change and the album you added/removed and discussion ensues. Hopefully this way but the time December rolls by you basically have your list and won't have to go through the arduous process of compiling it then. The number of spots on your list is up to you.
My List:
1. Mr. Sche - Immortal Thug - 4.5 2. Freeway and Jake One - 4.25 3. 4. 5. Consequence - Movies On Demand* - 4 (Real dope album, can see this staying in the mix, Cons TV is gonna be crazy) 6.Bun B - No Mixtape* - 4 7.X.O. - One.One.Ten* - 4 8. Statik Selektah - 100 Proof- 4 9. Freeway - Freelapse* - 4 (Almost as dope as the album, well close at least, dope verses here) 10. Reks - In Between The Lines* - 4 (real dope stuff here, too long, but a lot of heat on this one) 11. Bobo vs. Rhettmatic Mixtape* - 4 (real dope mixtape - just bongos and turntablism, real cool stuff IMO) 12. Laws - 457* - 3.5 (this may go higher) 13. Davinci - The Day The Turf Stood Still* - 3.5 14. T-Rock - Life Lessons - 3.5 15. Kyle Lucas - It's Always Sunny In Marietta* - 3.5 16. Strong Arm Steady - Stoney Jackson - 3.5 17. Donwill (of Tanya Morgan) - Laura's Tape* - 3.5 (may go higher as well) 18. Grynch - The Rapping About Rapping Mixtape* - 3.25 (Better than I expected, a little long though) 19. Nneka & J. Period - The Madness* - 3.25 (Kind of a disappointment, her solo work is tons better IMO) 20. Midaz The Beast - The El Midaz Affair (3.25, may go higher, pretty dope) 21. Big Pooh - Purple Tape* - 3 22. Termanology - 50 Bodies Part 3* - 3 23. Pastor Troy - GI Troy - 3 24. Styles P - Green Ghost - 3 25. Chamillionaire - Major Pain -3
Others:
Curren$y - Smokee Robinson* - 2.5 Donny Goines - 20X* - 3 Amadeaus - Me vs. Me* - 3 (decent Hell Razah/Killah Priest type rapper for those interested - just not as deep) Ayatollah Jaxx - Hello Hip Hop* - 3 (pretty good production) Drag On - The Crazies* 1.5 (give it up Drag On!) Yelawolf - Trunk Muzik* - 3.5 (this might be late 2009, but it is pretty dope, two super wack songs hold it from climbing higher) A. Levy - Crashed Hard Drive* - 3 (Decent stuff here, but too long and unfocused)
*Means free mixtape/album, hit me up if you'd like a link.
My Scale Explained:
Below 3: Pretty much forgettable and not worth peeping. 3 - 3.5: Good to Pretty Good stuff, recommended if you like the artist or the certain style) 3.5-4: Pretty Good to Great, stronger recommendation, should definitely peep if you like the artist or style) 4.0-5.0: These are great to classic albums and anything in this range I'd recommend to anyone to at least give it a spin.

| Spot Reserved:
1. Freeway/Jake One "Stimulus Package"-Not getting old at all. No weak spots. 2. Nas/Marley "Distant Relatives"-Wayyyyyyyyyyyy better than i expected. 3. Brotha Lynch Hung "Dinner & A Movie"-Great effort, just 1 or 2 tracks i don't care for. 4. Strong Arm Steady "Stoney Jackson"-Great production, great lyrics, Madlib and Strong arm came thru big time. 5. Eminem "Recovery"-Em makes a mini come back with this album. A little better production and it may have been a contender. 6. Reflection Eternal "Revolutions Per Minute"-Not a classic like the first one, still better than most. 7. Statik Selektah "100 Proof"-Statik is becoming one of my favorite producers. 8. B.O.B. "The Adventures of"-Very poppy but very good. 9. Red, Meth, Rae "Wu Massacre"-Much too short but what material is here is all dope. 10. Bone Thugs n harmony "Uni5"-This one has fallen a bit. Just not getting into it. Too much slow stuff for me. 11. Yu "Before Taxes"-Very good, just a few tracks i'm not feeling. 4 star material. 12. EuloRhythmics "Green St. & Avers"-This has fallen some with time. Still dope. 13. AOTP "The Unholy Terror"-I feel like this is too low, but at the same time i can't rate it ahead of anything above. 14. Cypress Hill "Rise Up"-Some complete bangers joined by some so so tracks. It gets a 3.75. Not bad. 15. Little Brother "Leftback"-Solid album, just not as good as i expected and kind of bores me. 16.
Still have to add The Roots,, Cognito, Vinnie Paz, Curren$y,muggs/bill, freddie gibbs, statik/term, The Left, Kanye, Celph Titled and Big Boi.

| Updated my list, I guess we are the only ones who want to participate at this point, so let the discussion commence!
And Jason, if you want to put up any genres up there it is all good, I think a lot of people here peep different things so if you want to highlight other genres it's for the better. |

| Fixtape came out in December didn't it?
I would probably have Stoney Jackson outside of my top 25... not feeling that one as much. |

| I haven't listened to it enough to have solid rating for it, but I can say that it definitely stands well alongside the other American recordings, it doesn't sound like inferior cast-offs from those albums. It is shorter, at only about half an hour, but the songs are all fitting for Cash, and there is a visceral feeling of his impending death when he recorded them. | |

| I'm late but i finally got my copy of "Stoney Jackson" in the mail and after the 1st spin i am very impressed. Production is great. My "Stimulus Package" should be here in the next couple of days i would think. I'm expecting even more from it. | |

| That album has been talked about for like 3 years, but Celph is actually done recording and mixing the record. It will DEFINITELY be out this summer. Celph has never given a release date for it because he said he didn't want to fuck with his fans like so many underground artists do. I would expect it in august sometime. Truthfully, Buckwild is a really dope producer, but I wonder how well Celph is goin to mix with his style. I'd almost rather see a Celph solo record produced by himself but this should be just as dope (hopefully doper, but we'll see). |

| Updated my Hip-Hop list to include B. Dolan. I'm gonna change the other list as well, to include The Tallest Man On Earth, Gorillaz, and Young Jazz Rebels (Madlib), but I have to figure out where it all goes. | |

| Updated my non-Hiphop list. As for the Gorillaz album, it's very good, but it might be a little harder to get into than their other albums. There's a lot of interesting stuff going on with the music, and the guests do their job, but it doesn't jump out at you as much. | |

| The B. Dolan album is good, but I start to tire of the style by the time I'm nearing the end of the album, whereas the Blu album has better variety and works better as a straight through listen for me (once I got past the poor sound quality), and that's despite probably being at least 20 minutes longer. I definitely see myself getting more listens out of Blu. So, that's why Blu is higher. | |

| Finally got my "Stimulus Package" this morning in the mail.
First off, let me just say that while the packaging was a nice little marketing idea, i don't like it at all. I'd much rather have a regular cd case. That being said, the album is straight fire. I'm not dissapointed at all.
I've only heard 2 albums this year. I still plan on checking that Statik Selektah and i'm waiting on alot of stuff to come out. | |
