| No, they had a more raw, unpolished sound, they weren't as violent or abrasive. |

Haha I'd say they were equally violent initially, they just used more metaphors

| Well if they used metaphors for violence it wouldn't be as apparent or vulgar, therefore less abrasive. |

I listened to The Infamous & Hell On Earth (my favorite...funny enough) a lot years back. The pothead in me likes the sound and style of UGK more though. Spliffs and UGK go hand in hand.

| I like UGK a lot, I just prefer Mobb Deep.
Sure they dropped the worst LP between the two (Blood Money) but they also dropped the best LP between the two (The Infamous).
Prodigy has fallen off some, but Bun B isn't an elite MC without Pimp C and his beats. His solos are good but not great. I'd take HNIC over all of Bun's solos.
It could be argued that UGK has been more consistent, but I just feel that Prodigy and Havoc have hit higher highs than the Pimp and the Bun.
Overall, I have no problem with someone preferring UGK. They are my 3rd or 4th fav Southern group. But Mobb Deep wins for this listener. |

Partially a reason why I don't listen to Mobb much anymore. Their lyrics are unbelievable...literally from what I hear.

Well I disproved your claim of more violence. And Mobb Deep were certainly violent but they didnt get very graphic...I wouldnt say they were too abrasive.

| UGK has a song called pregnant pussy about fucking women when they are pregnant... you can't get much more graphic, vulgar, or abrasive than that.
Pimp C on Something Good:
Bet it feels funny when ya doin 69 Knowin that ya sippin on all my jimmy wine And when ya get a kiss, do ya feel bad knowin that ya swallowed all the skeeter that I had?
Bun B's entire first verse on short texas... I mean.. UGK made it's name for saying whatever so I don't get his point. |

I've heard a lot about their lyrics being fake according to their own experiences. Maybe it's true, maybe it's not. UGK lyrics usually sound quite a bit more like real life experience to me in comparison.

Stick to Minnesota, bro. I've always heard MD met in art school...for many years. Not like that means anything. I've just always felt that it was far-fetched that they lived this life in their lyrics. Rappers lie all the time....and I'd bet MD are a couple of them...

"Havoc and Prodigy started rhyming in 1986 when they met at the High School of Art and Design in New York City."
"When Havoc and Prodigy were 18, they released their debut album as Mobb Deep, called Juvenile Hell, which was led by the single "Peer Pressure." |

| alright, as a group I'd say Mobb Deep and UGK are as close to a push as possible. I may slightly prefer UGK just cause their discog is deeper and arguably as dope.
What i do have a problem with is people picking Bun B over Prodigy. Really? As much as i love Bun, Prodigy would have ate him up. I'm not sure why the fuck P has dropped off a cliff so to speak, but P from Shook Ones, Drop A Gem On Em, and Quiet Storm would have got the best of Bun and quite a few other dudes IMO

BULLSHIT....obviously you have never heard any of P's solo efforts because all of them are better than Bun's joints.... P has lost a step or two but when you were as high up as he was then I would say that right now he's down to Bun's level....these 2 should NEVER be compared in anyway, shape of form, because there is no competition to notice right here...one of these emcees reached incredible highs and the other one pretty much has stayed middle ground throughout his entire career...... but if there is one thing I'm certain about it's this: Prodigy>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Wil-lay Bun B>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Wil-lay and both of them are kickin his ass quite easily especially Prodigy....that is like comparing Superman to a toddler

So the fact that Bun is better at this moment makes him better than P? I guess we should say Kevin Durant is a better basketball player than Magic Johnson cause right now he'd kill him on the court. You're acting like P was a flash in the pan. The skill he displayed over multiple albums can't be ignored. Never has Bun been mentioned as being top anything. A legit case could be made for Prodigy. There was a 5 year period from 1995-2000 where i could safely say P could have been the best mc in NY. During that time he was every bit as good(even better than some) as the bigger named MC's. Give me those 5 years of P over Bun any day.

| Bun B has been held high on people's list in the south for decades. I'm sure in the midwest and east he wasn't but down here he's rap elite all day.
Prodigy was a beast on the mic for what 4 albums (including his 1st solo album). Bun has been in lyrical shape since day one until current. So that is why I took Bun over Prod. Prod use to be a top 20 fav of mine but he fell quicker than the Dow Jones. And Bun's flow murks Prod alone I mean fa real.
And I agree that Prod solo's are waay betta than Bun's. But not lyrically but because of betta beats and betta sounding albums period overall. |
