| This is an instrumental album by Oddisee, and it's quite nice if you ask me. I think Oddisee was smart by making the intro track a track with rapping on it (it features yU) that sets the stage for the rest of the album. It seems like this is an album dedicated to Rock Creek Park and each track is representative of different landmarks, locations, or memories Oddisee has about the area. Each track features a smooth beat and there is a lot of variety on here. Also, Oddisee occasionally adds on a shorter beat to the end of a track after the main beat fades away, preventing the track from getting too repetitive or boring. It seems like Oddisee put a good amount of thought and work into this and as result it has great cohesion - each track flows into the next perfectly. After a couple of listens I am impressed by this release, and I think you should check it out if you are looking for an instrumental hip hop album from this year. 4 stars. | |
