And its funny you mention that becuse I was just thinking I bet Mys break his not voting by default rule for this album...lol. You never ask for much or complain a lot its the least I can do.

Both Nas albums make it, but your leaving out Spice 1's 4th best (IMO)? I can understand Kokane's getting left off because I'm almost positive I'm the only one on here that played the shit out of that album back in 99-00. Much respect for adding my other 3 rec's K. Rob, I know you're not a big fan of Immortalized, although I don't understand why...Love that record, used to slap the 12's tuff back when I had hella slump in the old ride. All in all happy with the 3 of 5 though, nice work cutty. I haven't heard that Spice album probably since '99. It just never stuck with me. I don't remember feeling it was wack just more so no replay value. And I know more people have heard Nastradumas than Immortilized. Plus if Immobilarity stays in this tourney (I see u Slang) Nastradumas stays..lol.

| A Prince Among Thieves is a producer album that is a concept album. I know the various MC's(although there's really only two) make it feel like a comp, but there is a common thread that ties the whole thing together. Even though i don't think i'd vote in favor of it too often, it does deserve a spot IMO.
Also, i was gonna mention the Pastor Troy album, but i didn't figure anyone outside of SRP would give a damn. I would vote for it over quite a few albums on the list though.

Rah Digga is a must but I have it on my 2000 list. I'm seeing conflicting release dates for '99 and '00. I may save it for 2000. Eve may have to be added due to it being an album i'm sure plenty have heard. Not seeing the NORE or Tip being added unless theres an sudden demand for them. Warren G is already on the list. I'll probably add the U God for the big Wu fans on this forum.

| This isn't going to get any easier after 2000, Kevin. One of the reasons most people don't think much of hip-hop as a whole is because all of the creative splinters tend to appeal to niche crowds. Simple East/South/West preferences are pretty much gone after 99. | |

I agree 100%. I already know shit will hit the fan post 2000. Plenty of default votes coming up. But on the positive I like that some yrs the winner will not be as predictable as the 90's and 80's. I notice how spit people taste got in the 00's. I already have in mind that this touney may have to increase to that dreaded 128 on some yrs coming. Especially in the late 00's with the mixtape/albums and more underground choices coming on the scene strong.

Aww shucks! Yeah, any Swollen Members albums, and any Sweatshop Union albums (should they ever make the cut) would cause me to vote by default. They'd probably need all the help they could get. I'd vote by default for Arsonists' "As The World Burns" too, because that's how much I love that album.

Eve and Rah Digga's debuts were BANGERS. Even though the dudes in here don't like rappers that have a vagina, they deserve to be added. I also agree that if Immobilarity gets added then so should Nastradamus. I didn't care for either album but Immobilarity was worse IMO.

| Nastradamus gets beat down waaay too much. Is it one of his weaker efforts? Sure. But lyrically he is still murking that album. Its just the flow of the album and some of the beat selections are off. I think if he would have dropped this as a disc 1 or 2 as originally planned with I Am it would be tolerated a lot more. But as an stand alone album its weakness shows in the wide open. | |

| Better lyrics alone won't save an album. If it doesn't mesh as cohesive work then it'll come up lacking. I felt with Q-Tip I got what I paid for. I knew what it was about coming just off the singles. I understand Tribe fans being disappointed expecting something deeper. Maybe I don't feel that way cause I had no such preconceived notions going in. | |

Thats why I listen to Nastra as a collection of songs more so than an album. And the beats are not wack (save for a few), just average. I buy Nas albums for lyricism mainly anyway. I rarely worry about his production because thats not his main thing. Same with K-Rino and a very few others. I buy there work for the lyricism and subject matter. As long as the beats are not complete trash I usally get along fine with them. And I feel you on what you said about Tip album. That helps a lot when you can go into an album with no big expectations.

I feel the same way about Nastradamus. It was definitely a disappointment but people that say that it's the worst rap album of all time are idiots. I also co-sign what you said about the original plans. The Lost Tapes were tracks that were supposed to be on the I Am/Nastradamus double LP. Had that plan came to fruition, Nas would have NO duds on his discography and his already strong case for being the GOAT would be even stronger. Personally, he's still the GOAT IMO but if the above scenario had happened, his name would come up even more in GOAT conversations than it already does and nobody not named SRP or N3RO would bat an eye.

| Kev you might as well add Soundbombing II to this mix too man....I mean you currently have East Point's Greatest Hits which is a Dungeon Family comp...so there's plenty of extra talent on that one, that is not a Cool Breeze solo effort man....
Soundbombing II deserves a look here mayne.....
Oh and don't remove Terror Squads joint...that was a pretty dope album....
Nastradamus probably should be removed in that case.....it's not a completely wack album per se but IMO it's not above 3 stars either (I have it at 2.75 stars) and I know it has virtually zero chance of moving on beyond the first round, so get that one off of here but let the Terror Squad stay.....

| remove Nastradamus for Soundbombing II....Soundbombing II is top 25 album ever. ITs not a typical "comp" with a bunch of tracks just thrown together, the whole album truly plays like an album and has a certain vibe throughout complete with interludes and everything | |

| Its not fair for SB II to be on this. What solo albums save for one or two is really going to be able to compete with a comp album of that calibur? Its not a solo or grp album its an artist showcase album. Thats too much for a one artist show to compete with.
A long time ago we came up with no comps or sountrks unless there are no more albums available.
