Big Pun

I voted top 100 even though i'm not a fan at all. I respect his lyrical ability and flow but i just never could stand his voice. He also sounds like he's struggling to breathe while he's rapping and i just never could get into his music, jusy my opinion.

I like Big Pun as much as the next guy, but i can't seriously vote top 50 for him. I love both of his albums, but neither was a classic. Top 100 for sure though.

his workload was small but his talent, lyrical skills, impact and influence was large

He's a personal top 50 because IMO Capital Punishment is an obvious hip hop classic HOWEVER he only had that one official (by SRP's standards) album so it's impossible to put him in the top 50.

Yeeeah Baby was official too. It was completed before his death.

Well, he actually has three, but Endangered Species is just a collection of guest spots and stuff like that. Yeeeah Baby was dope to me. I'd give 4 stars. It had some truely great songs, but a few stinkers.

I think Pun layed the vocals for the entire album. I don't think it was pieced together from outtakes. Pun was definitely involved with it.

Yeeah Baby was offical to my knowledge and I like the direction he was going, the beats were more my speed on that one.

Really? That's cool and all, but I don't see many people liking Yeaaah Baby more than Capital Punishment.

Top 100, he really only released one great album before he died, but he had immense talent.

Wow Pounds, I thought you were sharper than that. I know you're not a Pun fan per se, but I'm surprised you didn't know that he had another album. Yeeeah Baby was a 4 star album whereas Capital Punishment was considered at least 4.5 stars consensus wise. I give CP 5 stars personally though.

As for my vote, I give him Top 50 because just like Biggie, he made a TREMENDOUS impact on the rap game in such a short period of time, more than many MC's make after decades in the rap game. His talent was also undeniable. To this day he's the most successful Latino rapper of all time, and sets the standard for all other Hispanic MC's to follow.

That combined with the fact that I can't come up with 50 MC's more talented is the reason I vote Top 50.

I don't see why not. Some people vote based on Youtube videos with artists that have 10 albums. I voted based on 1 full album that I have heard multiple times which is 50% of his discography.

Ummm, look. I have not voted on several artists which I was not familiar with. I have heard CP several times because it was a favorite of a friend of mine. Trust me, I have heard the album and have tried to like it especially since a friend put me onto it. I simple don't care for his personality or his content very much.

And Terry - percentage-wise, I own more Pun than you do Murs, I would guess. So maybe you shouldn't have voted on that one?

Well, I assumed it was less by the way you worded your post.

Either way, it seems silly to even bring it up because there are real examples of people voting without knowledge (Mantronix, Just-Ice, and so on...).
