| Common wins for me. I like Tech but lyrically he can't hang with Common nor discog wise. Tech wins in the flow and delivery area. And semi in the entertainment factor. |

| Common fell off years ago..Be & Finding Forever were mainstream efforts, and UMC was downright 2.0 stars terrible. Tech has been consistent, the most successful indie rap act ever, and is better lyrically, delivery n def flow. U could say Common has better voice n subject matter, but that is 100% debatable. Anyone not voting tech is not familiar, I will say that.
If everyone would do me a favor and list the albums they have purchased from each artist I think it would be very telling |

If everyone would do me a favor and list the albums they have purchased from each artist I think it would be very telling i agree with this assessment back in high school i probably would have said Common, but Tech has more stuff i bump now. Resurrection and LWFC are still classics, and i like a lot of Common's other albums but since and including "Be" i havent felt him that much . In terms of skills which is what this thread is about Tech is taking this Tech N9ne in a close one

If everyone would do me a favor and list the albums they have purchased from each artist I think it would be very telling Common albums I actually purchased are all of them except Can I Borrow A Dollar Only Tech albums I purchased are KOD (well its on deck), Killer, and Angellic (back when it dropped). But I have heard and have copies of Absolute Power and Everready. So while i'm not deep into Tech I am pretty familiar with him. I was checking for him big time back in the day. He's very hit or miss for me. He has these real high quality songs and then he has these real weak very average ass songs. |

| Tech N9ne, no question. This is not even a contest, and if it is a contest, it's a rigged contest. Cuz tech wins easily. And shaun has horrible taste in music. He doesn't like ras kass or tech n9ne...wow...loser... |

If everyone would do me a favor and list the albums they have purchased from each artist I think it would be very telling I actually agree with Pac Jr. here too...Common in 2010 is more interested in making movies with Queen Latifah than he is with actually emceeing ( I liked Finding Forever by the way) but his OVERALL catalog is too strong for Tech and his impact beats him too...lyrically I think Tech is better than him though...but I've still gotta go with Common right here!

| 7 - 6 to common as it stands..
one of the first artists i ever bumped, not just his solo work, but all the quest spots as well as the "new skool" native tongue movement.. his work with mos an talib is some of my favourite..
tech isnt really my sound, , ive sampled some of his stuff before, , dont own any of his albums.

| Okay look on the real Common would eat Tech for breakfast lunch, dinner, snack, and late nite dinner. Tech is a average to above average lyricists who was a strong delivery and flow. Those are mos def his biggest assets but Common is a pure spitter without all the pizazz. |

Have you sat there and literally listened to everything on Anghellic? That's an amazing cd word for word. I haven't really heard Common, I just don't see Tech getting killed word for word.

When Tech writes songs like Retrospect For Life, Song For Assata, and G.O.D. holla at me. Until then lyrically there's no match. Now Tech is waay more entertaining and has a much betta delivery. |

| Tech is overrated IMO. Yeah he's lyrical but he can be average as hell at times.
I've downloaded 3 of his albums (KOD, Absolute Power, Anghellic) and they're all dope, but none of them are as good as Common's best 3 IMO (Resurrection, Like Water For Chocolate, One Day It'll All Make Sense).
Tech is hotter than Common is right now, but total career wise Common is killing him.

| LOL @ KJs continued hypocrisy - he can DL albums and listen to them once and accurately judge them, but heaven forbid someone does that with some shitty ass 1980's East Coast album. They could never accurately rate them or understand them then.

How is Common killing anything with so few albums in such a long time when at least three of them are fucking wack? Just say this: "Common is more my style, so I'm picking him". Don't lie and make this about some shit it's not when the truth is obvious. And how are you judging an artist's catologue when you haven't even checked out half their shit? I think he was talking about the last 10 years of Common's career, so his argument has merit i still dont think that has merit, Rakim has release 1 album in 10 years and thats not going to affect the way i vote nor should it. Rappers dont have a required number of albums they have to release to be considered anything, they can do what they want

| Jeff clearly was referring to the fact Common hasn't been Common for about 10 years... you dudes can't sit there and complain about every album he's dropping since LWFC and then sit here and praise him.
His catalog doesn't stand up to Tech's. Even Tech's worst bootleg efforts are better than Common's worse.
Lyrically Tech is a force and hangs, if not beats common. It just comes down to preference here really. I will take Tech because he's brought a new style to the game. Common never brought anything new to the game.. he was a native tongues clone from Chicago, nothing more. |

Common only has two weak albums to me. And I agree he bought nothing new to the game. But neither has Tech. Fast rapping over dark beats is not that original. |
